Department of Economic Development [EDD] Certificates of completion were awarded to 22 participants of the 2024 Fintech Training Program.
“Designed to equip Bermudians with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the rapidly evolving fintech industry, this initiative, now in its third year, has grown in popularity and the number of participants has doubled,” a Government spokesperson said.
Premier and Finance Minister David Burt said, “Bermuda is recognised as a world-leading jurisdiction in providing regulatory clarity to digital finance. As this sector continues to expand, Bermudians must be equipped with the skills and knowledge required to take advantage of these opportunities.”
The spokesperson said, “The three-month-long FinTech training program conducted by EDD in collaboration with the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and industry leaders includes three major components:
“Online FinTech Courses: Participants completed globally recognized FinTech courses, primarily two courses offered by the Center for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship [CFTE]Which provided a strong foundation for understanding how technology is modernizing financial systems.
Professional Development Modules: DWD offered twelve self-paced courses covering critical skills such as project management, cybersecurity, and digital citizenship, preparing participants for real-world challenges in a technology-driven environment.
“Networking opportunities: Participants interacted with industry leaders and executives from local tech and fintech companies, gaining invaluable insights and building professional relationships.”
CFTE Co-Founder Tram-Anh Nguyen congratulated the graduates, saying, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the students who completed the CFTE FinTech 360 and RegTech programmes. These courses have equipped them with the skills and knowledge to excel in the rapidly evolving financial sector, covering the latest trends in finance, technology, FinTech and RegTech. I am delighted that they are now ready to embark on their FinTech journey and join a global community of practitioners. Special thanks to the Bermuda Government’s Department of Economic Development for their confidence in CFTE and their commitment to empowering Bermudians in the rapidly growing FinTech sector.”
EDD Acting Director Maryam Biyadillah also congratulated the group and thanked the partners who contributed to the program’s success. “I look forward to seeing how you will contribute to Bermuda’s future,” she said. “Our many partners have played a vital role in making this program so valuable.”
Graduates of the program also shared their positive experiences. Jeff Lewis said, “The FinTech program represents a cutting-edge learning experience, thoughtfully designed and well-managed from start to finish.” Vincent Darrell added, “As an entrepreneur, it is important to stay informed about the evolving FinTech landscape in Bermuda. This program has been an eye-opener.”
